Luis Quinones is a designer / computational designer living in Los Angeles. He received his Masters in Architectural Design from Tulane University where he was the recipient of the Best Thesis Award. He received his bachelor of science in 2006 from York College of Pennsylvania, Majoring in Behavioral Science, with a concentration in Forensic + Physical Anthropology with a Minor in Psychology.
Luis is currently a Design Director @ compMatter - TA , a research-oriented satellite of Trahan Architects. Operating in Los Angeles, compMatter-TA is a discipline bending group with interests that span architecture, computation, design, and media. Formerly a Lead Designer at Emergent Architecture in Los Angeles , Luis specialized in advanced digital and algorithmic design, he was a designer for two winning competitions during his time there. Luis’ research work has been exhibited globally as well as in sucker Punch, Evolo | Architecure Magazine, Future Magazine and Popular Science .
He has taught technical, computational and design workshops at Sci Arc, Texas Tech University, Tulane University, and Apo Mechanes in Athens, Greece. Most recently Luis lectured at Texas Tech University on Complicit Matter. His current research focuses on non linear behavior, advanced material systems and algorithmic design.
